Source and Supply of Sustainable Raw Material
The Ipir brand of engineered wood veneers is manufactured by Filli Zangheri s.r.l.
In the manufacturing of the Ipir Wood Veneers, the specie of wood that is used in Triplochiton Scleroxylon also known primarily as Ayous but also Obeche or Samba. These trees are found in the central region of Tropical West Africa.
This specie is primarily found throughout western Camaroon and remains in abundance and is secure throughout its natural growth range, with very little to no threat to its population.
The raw material is harvested by Filli Zangheri s.r.l with operations set up in Cameroon. The Ipir operation works directly with the Government of Cameroon to comply with their Forest Management Plan (FMP) and the primary focus being sustainability. The FMP objectives are to ensure a continuous supply of timber. It is important to note that the FMP objectives are to ensure that timber yields should not exceed the net volume increment of the species to be harvested.
Triplochiton Scleroxylon has been tested for cultivation because of its considerably fast growth. Advancements that have been made through the government of Cameroon's forestry management objectives has initiated the set up of plantations for this specie because it grows fast enough to become established successfully.
Legal Regulations on Forestry and Wildlife (Law # 94-01) has been set to meet the objectives of the Cameroon New Forest Policy. A high tax rate is paid to the Government of Cameroon to ensure that forestry operations are handled in an efficient manor to ensure sustainable use and conservation of its forestry, wildlife and fishery recourses.
Ipir's compliance to all the regulations and stipulations set forth by the Government of Cameroon has resulted in a long term working relationship that has assured continuous approval ratings and renewal of certificates for harvesting of the raw materials they require.
